This plugin builds the index during the quiet boot window; every later search answers in milliseconds. Host-only, zero network, official services only — a textbook Unix single-purpose plugin, and the case that pushed the paradigm to add its symmetric host-only exemption. Measured 2026-08-16 on dsh 0.1.0-rc.6: first query 9–29ms, index covering all 22 sessions (12,702 document segments).

  Founder’s notes: Content search is barely usable on a large corpus with the official engine alone; this plugin answers in milliseconds from an in-memory index of user/assistant text, adding vscode-style inline mode toggles (Aa case / ab whole-word / .* regex / fz fuzzy), a per-session hit dropdown, and seq-anchored jumps — located via the runtime chat snapshot's anchorSeq, auto-expanding collapsed context rows before marking. Selection lives on the hit row (not the session header) with a persistent active indent guide; collapsing search and clicking the page clears the fill and boxes. Measured 2026-08-17 (Playwright, dsh 0.1.0-rc.6): one filled highlight + 97 in-page boxes after jumping to an npm hit; a deep-history hit located precisely after ~15s of paging; selection / indent / clear-marks rechecked live; --strict green after the paradigm migration. npm 0.2.0 is published. Known costs: deep jumps are bound by the official 50-messages-per-page paging; fuzzy defaults off (scattered subsequence hits have no contiguous string to mark).
